Release notes

Amiga Imager v0.98

v0.98 is a workflow-focused public update. It brings WHDLoad game collections straight into iGame on first boot, makes ROM and media checks clearer, keeps the host-side archive path fully native, and rolls in PiStorm Classic and filesystem polish.

  • WHDLoad collections in iGame
  • Clearer ROM and media checks
  • Native host path and release polish

Beta - macOS 14+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Current downloadable build: 260706.

Why update

v0.98 is about getting from your licensed media and your own software collection to a finished Amiga system with less cleanup afterwards. The app now does more of the obvious setup work for you, reports the important checks more clearly, and keeps the whole host-side path on the native implementation.

WHDLoad collections land in iGame on first boot

  • Point the build at a WHDLoad games folder. v0.98 accepts archives, extracted drawers, or a mix, copies the collection into the finished image, and keeps the folder structure intact.
  • iGame is ready immediately. The iGame index is generated during the build, so the library is already there on first boot instead of needing a first-run scan on the Amiga.
  • ScummVM package setups are broader now. The launcher-grade entries, freeware game coverage, and emulator-profile support have all moved forward, so current setups are more complete out of the box.

Media and ROM checks are more helpful

A lot of build friction comes from small input mistakes, so v0.98 tightens the checks around the files users point the app at before the build starts.

  • ADF folders are now checked the same way the build uses them. The scan looks at the selected folder's top level, can auto-adopt a single obvious subfolder, and offers a one-click switch when the disks are one level deeper than expected.
  • Hyperion 3.2.x ROM recognition is broader. More official ROM variants are recognized directly, and the app can now fall back to the Kickstart header when the binary layout differs but the ROM is still legitimate.
  • Clean builds read cleaner. Expected absences no longer produce noisy warnings, so the build log is easier to trust and easier to share.

The host path is fully native now

The macOS side has been cleaned up further in v0.98. The remaining host-side lha and 7z bootstrap machinery is gone, so archive handling stays on the native decoder path instead of leaning on extra host tools.

  • No extra host archive toolchain. The native path is the product path now, not a side route.
  • Roadshow Demo is part of the standard flow. Current builds can use the bundled demo directly, while Roadshow Full still plugs in cleanly when you provide your own archive.

PiStorm and filesystem polish

  • PiStorm Classic defaults are safer. The classic kernel path stays explicit, and the v1.1 classic config now ships with the turbo overclock commented out instead of assumed on.
  • Per-partition filesystems are respected. The build no longer forces everything through a PFS3-primary assumption when the chosen layout says otherwise.
  • Release build: 260706.
